Mom - TV Review

Starring Anna Faris, Allison Janney, Nate Corddry, French Stewart, Sadie Calvano and Matt Jones.

Chuck Lorre's touch is obvious in this laugh-tracked story about a dysfunctional single mom Christy (Anna Faris) who's dealing with chaos all around.  She and her bad-example mom (Allison Janney) are in Alcoholics Anonymous together. Christy's own teen daughter is pregnant, and Christy's sleeping with her married boss (Nate Corddry). And her son's father is a deadbeat drug dealer. But she wants to be a more responsible parent now. This could be a Showtime drama reimagined as a sitcom. For me the dysfunctionality is just stacked up too high to be accompanied by a laugh-track.
